March 5th Hike

Well we had quite the day. We rode in the back seat of a pick-up with little room for the legs for 2 1/2 hrs. just to get to the trail. I had prayed for a cool day and was blessed to have a perfect day with overcast and only in the 70's. There were nine of us that went. The hike in seemed so easy and I wished more had come. It was so beautiful and we had to cross over water on rock's 22 times and believe it or not I didn't fall in. Also had several water fall's and could hear the water at all time's. The trip takes you to the prehistoric cliff dwellings in Roger Canyon...The cliff dwellings are located on the north side of the canyon about 100 feet up from the bottom of the wash. The ruins inside the cave at Rogers Canyon cliff dwelling have been protected from the weather. It was unbelievable and just can't imagine the work they did to build and wonder how they carried every thing up the cliff when I could hardly climb up there. To think every time they wanted food or water they had to climb up and down. It was a four mile hike to get their and then we started the four miles back....that was much harder as we we hiking up some pretty steep place's and pretty hard on the legs. Then we had to take the 2 1/2 mile drive out again over a rough road and we were all glad to get back to the park. I headed to the pool and then took a hot shower and the next day I was just fine. I am so glad I went but once is enough!
