Happy New Year's

We had a nice Christmas but missed you all. We loved all the picture's so made us feel like we were there. We had a wonderful dinner at our club house with seventy some people. We took as our guest Aunt Doris, and cousin Earl and Marly's. Then had them come to our home for the afternoon. We were invited to friends in the evening.
We are enjoying our winter even if it is cooler then usual. This afternoon we went and played tennis which is only the third time this winter. Tomorrow we are going hiking with a group from our park. It well be the first time since my surgery so well see how it goes. It is about a four mile hike in the mountains. We want to wish each of you a Happy New Year's.

Alaska Cruise.May 6-12, 2009

Here is a sample of our Alaska cruise...our room stewart would leave us a animal each night on our bed. Our monkey is a sample of our last night. The next picture is us together in Juneau.

The next one is Royce and his mining partner in Ketchikan. We toured Glacier Bay and saw many glaciers. They are such a pretty blue! The ship is the one we were on and it was called the "Carnival Spirit" and it was 10 stories high. We were on the 7th floor. Thank's to our four children for a wonderful trip.

Sunday Drive

We had a good church service with a Guest speaker from Park Rapids. Then decided it was too warm to do much today so decided to go for a ride. We went to Queen Creek, Coolage and Florence. We were amazed at how these little town's had grown. When we ended up in Florence decided to stop and see cousin Pat and John. They have such a nice place and insisted we stay for supper. You would have thought she knew we were coming as she had four chicken breast cook, spanish rice, mixed veg., roll's and lemon cheese cake....sooo good.
We are getting excited to go on our cruice. We registered on the computer so well make that alot faster when we get there. We didn't have a printer to print our pass so called Dawn and she was able to do it. We plan to leave here on Sat. and head for Oregon where we will leave our Motorhome at Dawn's and just drive our car to Vancouver, B.C. Well let you know how our trip was.

March 5th Hike

Well we had quite the day. We rode in the back seat of a pick-up with little room for the legs for 2 1/2 hrs. just to get to the trail. I had prayed for a cool day and was blessed to have a perfect day with overcast and only in the 70's. There were nine of us that went. The hike in seemed so easy and I wished more had come. It was so beautiful and we had to cross over water on rock's 22 times and believe it or not I didn't fall in. Also had several water fall's and could hear the water at all time's. The trip takes you to the prehistoric cliff dwellings in Roger Canyon...The cliff dwellings are located on the north side of the canyon about 100 feet up from the bottom of the wash. The ruins inside the cave at Rogers Canyon cliff dwelling have been protected from the weather. It was unbelievable and just can't imagine the work they did to build and wonder how they carried every thing up the cliff when I could hardly climb up there. To think every time they wanted food or water they had to climb up and down. It was a four mile hike to get their and then we started the four miles back....that was much harder as we we hiking up some pretty steep place's and pretty hard on the legs. Then we had to take the 2 1/2 mile drive out again over a rough road and we were all glad to get back to the park. I headed to the pool and then took a hot shower and the next day I was just fine. I am so glad I went but once is enough!

Jeep Trip's

We met a guy from Detroit Lakes and it is his first year down here. He is having so much fun and bought himself a jeep. There are several people with jeep's and they go into area's you would not be able to go with out them.. Mike has invited us to go with him twice and what a fun time. You see country you would never be able to see and go over big rocks, steep hill's and such. Wish you could all go with us! If we could figure out how to put the picture's from our camera on here we would send some picture's......but picture's just does not show how it really is.
We saw big patches of poppies and other flowers starting to come out. The dessert will be beautiful this year with all the rain. It is so green right now. Come and join us!!!

Massacre Grounds Trail

Well we hiked the Massacre Grounds hike today. Couldn't help think about last year when we did the hike and Heidi was with us. It was in March and nice and warm and the poppies were out. Well quite different today....it was cold, rainy and lots of wind. We met tonight and talked about taking the hike to Rogers Canyon Cliff Dwellings. We decided to take it March 5th. It is a much harder hike and 8 mile hike. I keep asking our hiking guide if he things I can do it and he keeps saying yes so guess I will try it. The only bad thing is I'll probably be the only girl! Oh well!! It is a 2 1/2 hr. drive just to get out to where we will be doing the hike so we will be leaving early in the morning before the sun is up and probably won't get home till supper time or later. Wish you were all here to go with us.
